Academic Proofreading
Essays Dissertations Theses
Google Review:
"After Ann did a review of some previously submitted writing, I could see that she had good attention to detail and already knew that she is a conscientious and hard-working person. In addition, her prices are competitive and if needing a proofreader for my doctoral thesis would definitely consider her proofreading service."
- Philip de Rivaz, M.A Graduate and PhD Researcher

I'd be delighted to proofread your academic work; however, please take note of the following:
Proofread Ready?
Firstly, ask yourself if your work is ready for the proofreading stage. Proofreading should be the very last step undertaken before submitting your work for marking. So, please ensure your work is completed, and you are happy with it, before sending it to me to proofread.
Proofreading Policy
You will need to provide a copy of your College or University’s proofreading policy, or written consent from your supervisor confirming your work can be proofread. Work undertaken will be done in line with this policy.
What academic proofreading includes:
Checking the work against relevant style guides, dictionaries, and grammar books.
Identifying and making suggestions by way of track changes: typos, spelling, punctuation, capitalisation, spacing, formatting, and consistency.
Identifying and making suggestions in comment boxes: grammar and syntax.
What proofreading does not include:
No level of copy editing, re-writing, or content writing will be undertaken.
I cannot create an Index, Contents, Bibliography, label graphs, etc.
Plagiarism Check
It's the student's responsibility to undertake a plagiarism check.
Proof of work undertaken
The student should state on the cover page that their work has been proofread.
An All Markup copy of the document sent for proofreading showing track changes and comments will be returned to the student by the agreed deadline. It is the student's responsibility to accept or reject any track changes made in the body of the document and to act upon any corrections suggested in the comment boxes.
Timescale
How long it takes depends on the length and complexity of the document i.e. indexes, references, footnotes, endnotes, bibliography, graphs, tables, etc.
Please submit your work in good time, well before any deadline dates. You need to allow enough time for me to check the work, and for you to then make the necessary changes.
Style Guide
You will need to email me a digital copy of the relevant Style Guide your institution uses, unless I already have it.
Brief
I will discuss and agree a Brief with you before I undertake any work.
Rates
£14 per 1000 words up to 50 000 words (1.4p per word)
£13.50 per 1000 words over 50 000 words (1.35p per word)
For proofreading purposes, the word count includes body text, headings, footnotes, endnotes, captions, tables, index, bibliography, etc. Having obtained an accurate word count, I multiply that by the relevant rate.
I will then provide a no-obligation quote.
Emergency Assignments
I do not usually undertake 24-hour turnaround assignments.
However, if I do agree to accept a last minute assignment, this will incur an extra charge.
