More affordable than you imagine ...
If you've done your research, you'll know pricing for copy editing and proofreading can be a complicated and confusing business. Rates may be charged per word, per page, or per hour.
While many freelancers charge by the hour, for the sake of simplicity and transparency, I have chosen to set my rates for copy editing and proofreading per word. This means I can provide an upfront, no-obligation quote - so no nasty surprises!
*Prices quoted are valid for assignments submitted by 31st December 2025.

Business clients and prolific writers may find it beneficial to agree on a retainer fee. This may be of value to clients who have a large project or ongoing work and would prefer to pay a set amount for a specified number of hours per week.

Calculating my Rates
My rates take into account not only my time, qualifications, and experience, but also that I am a freelance professional running my own business. Therefore, they factor in costs such as holiday and sick leave, National Insurance, pension provision, software, subscriptions, licenses, business equipment and supplies.
I review my rates yearly, with any increases taking effect on 1st January.
